2025-2026 hiring
We are currently fully staffed for the school year, but we welcome connections with interested applicants. We are usually always accepting applications for substitutes. Candidates with classroom experience highly preferred, but it is not a requirement.

Classroom Assistant
We are currently looking for a full-time (8am-3pm daily) classroom assistant to join our team in a 3-6yo classroom. Assistants collaborate with lead teachers to maintain the classroom and support the children’s development. An ideal candidate would have classroom experience, preferably in a Montessori environment, but this is not a requirement. This position comes with opportunities for growth and school sponsored Montessori training for candidates interested in a career in Montessori education.
Regular Toddler Afternoon substitute
We are seeking a regular long-term, part-time subsitute for a toddler classroom. The position can begin immediatly, and the intended schedule is 12-3:00 daily for the duration of our lead teacher’s maternity leave. Additional hours outside of this time to provide other classroom coverage is welcomed.
Starting pay $17-19/hour, depending on experience. Candidates with Montessori training receive a higher rate.
Classroom and Afternoon program substitutes
Montessori School of Charlottesville is always on the lookout for loving, dependable people to add to our pool of substitutes. Substitutes have the important role of supporting classrooms (toddler and 3 to 6-year-olds) when regular staff are unavailable and help maintain standards of safe supervision of children and classroom care. Hours are flexible and dependent on candidate availability, though we appreciate candidates with reliable availability. This is a wonderful way to get involved with your school if you’re curious.
