Toddler Afternoon Program Lead

We are looking for a compassionate, respectful, and loving person to lead our toddler late afternoon program. The hours for this position must include 12:30-5:30pm daily, but an earlier start is possible for the right candidate. There are also options to add hours as a substitute.

The afternoon toddler lead is integral to creating the right environment and care for children who stay for an extended day. An ideal candidate would have classroom or afterschool program experience and the willingness to learn adopt Montessori practices as directed by the Toddler Guide.

Starting pay $17-19/hour, depending on experience.  Candidates with Montessori training receive a higher rate.

Classroom and Afternoon program substitutes

Montessori School of Charlottesville is always on the lookout for loving, dependable people to add to our pool of substitutes.  Substitutes have the important role of supporting classrooms (toddler and 3 to 6-year-olds) when regular staff are unavailable and help maintain standards of safe supervision of children and classroom care.  Hours are flexible and dependent on candidate availability, though we appreciate candidates with reliable availability.  This is a wonderful way to get involved with your school if you’re curious.

2026-2027 hiring

Lead Montessori Guides

We always welcome connections with interested applicants to join our team. Candidates to join our teaching staff should hold age-applicable Montessori credentials MACTE-accredited training center or be willing to begin training before starting work. We also welcome candidates interested in teaching practicum experience. We look for individuals who demonstrate a commitment to upholding Montessori techniques and philosophy while also supporting colleagues and families through meaningful collaboration.  Punctuality and strong written and verbal communication skills are a must, as is a deep respect for children and our environment. We strive to create a joyful, diverse, and peaceful school.

Salary for the academic term starts between $34,700 and $39,000, based on experience and training. The Academic calendar runs from early-August to early June, with Summer contracted separately. Typical schedule M-F, 8-3. Benefits include health coverage, PTO, holiday pay, and Simple IRA.
